Annual Pink Out Soccer Game

Megan Janikowski, defender for the Cal Poly Humboldt women’s soccer team, has turned her passion for the sport into a powerful platform for awareness and support through the annual Pink Out breast cancer games. In honor of her mother Heather — whose legacy inspires the work of the Heather Janikowski Foundation — Megan and her teammates wear specially designed pink jerseys each October to spotlight breast cancer awareness and raise funds for local families affected by the disease.

Before the game, teammates dye their socks pink and decorate College Creek Field as a visual tribute to survivors, fighters, and those lost to cancer. Proceeds from the Pink Out match help support cancer patients in the community, reflecting Megan’s dedication to making an impact beyond the pitch.

Megan’s leadership on and off the field — both as an athlete and as a community advocate — embodies resilience, compassion, and hope, continuing her mother’s legacy by bringing attention and resources to the fight against cancer.
