AFCA Award

The AFCA Good Works Team is one of college football’s most respected honors, recognizing student-athletes for their outstanding commitment to community service and leadership beyond the field. Selected by the American Football Coaches Association, the award highlights players who demonstrate integrity, compassion, and a genuine dedication to serving others.

Each year, a select group of student-athletes from across all levels of college football are chosen for the Good Works Team based on the meaningful impact they make in their communities. While athletic performance is commendable, the true focus of the award is character — celebrating those who use their platform to serve, uplift, and inspire.

In 2024, Dean Janikowski was named to the AFCA Good Works Team, recognizing his exceptional leadership and service efforts — particularly through his work with the Heather Janikowski Foundation and his commitment to supporting families affected by cancer. His selection reflects a dedication to making a difference that extends far beyond the game.
