Wuerffel Trophy 2024

The Allstate Wuerffel Trophy is one of college football’s most meaningful honors. It is awarded each year to the FBS player who best combines outstanding community service with leadership, academic achievement, and athletic performance — recognizing student-athletes who use their platform to make a positive impact off the field as much as on it.

Named for Danny Wuerffel, the former Heisman Trophy winner and humanitarian whose life reflects service, this award celebrates athletes who lead with character, compassion, and dedication to others.

In 2024, Dean Janikowski was honored as a finalist for the Wuerffel Trophy, highlighting his exceptional commitment to community service, academic success, and athletic contribution — particularly through his work raising significant support for cancer research and patient programs in memory of his mother.

Through his leadership with the Heather Janikowski Foundation, Dean has helped expand access to cancer support resources and funding initiatives throughout the Eastern Washington region. His efforts have strengthened partnerships, increased community engagement, and generated meaningful financial support for patients and families facing cancer — creating a lasting and measurable impact across the communities he serves.
